Clearly, this secret is a Mass Death Ward spell without a back door. ;)

    Hmmmm.

So what might the secret be? It could be something completely out of nowhere, but I doubt it. These types of plot points seems to be well-foreshadowed. I just can't think of what it might be. I was thinking something with trees, but the joke from a dozen strips ago already tied the knot on that recurring gag.

    Any thoughts?

Edit: I KNOW! Flumphs! The Flumphs will save the day.

Excellent comic and I cannot wait for a mind better than mine to try and figure out exactly what thor just told Durkon.

Well I would imagine the western gods are mostly evil and some of the northern gods are evil so... yeah. And if you put demon lords and stuff into the mix, well, you get the point.

Honestly, all I can recall about the Twelve Gods is that Rat is Evil. I have no idea about the alignment of the rest of them.

That said, it seems to me that Odin is talking about the ratio of Non-Good deities across all three pantheons, so maybe there's a bunch of Evil deities in the Western Pantheon to counter a large number of Good gods among the Southern Pantheon.

He said "Not-good", not "evil." I think he's including the neutral gods. Not all the neutral gods will be kicking over the sand-castles in the "sandbox," but the chaotic neutral ones would, as would the some of the true neutral anti-civilization druids.

This is what I got as well. He's comparing the ammount of Good gods, to Evil ,and Neutral Gods.

Seeing that Thor knows Elan and Banjo so well makes me wonder if Banjo will be, not raised per se, but recognized in some fashion as Elan's reward for saving the world.

Post Re: OOTS #1146 - The Discussion Thread

Why does everyone think that the Southern Gods are primarily Good? There has been absolutely nothing to indicate that. All we know is that Rat is evil. That's it. The rest could be anything. Just because the pantheon as a whole was worshipped by paladins, it doesn't mean anything. We've seen plenty of evil people in the south, too, who worshipped the same pantheon.

Odin and Thor became aware of Banjo back when the strip was more jokey and Elan wanted to add to the pantheon. More relevantly, when the party is pretty much the major force trying (if unsuccessfully) to keep the gates under control, it's a safe bet that powerful things are watching them.

Since the comic as it stands now even has Elan acknowledging that worshipping a puppet is silly, I think that having it be relevant as opposed to a running Elan gag is a very outside chance.

    Sarcastic Thor is best Thor.

As a Cleric of Thor, Durkon refreshes spells at dawn, yes? Since the Council meeting isn't until "mid-morning" hopefully that means he'll be confronting Gontor with a full load of spells. And if Vaarsuvius has a chance to refresh as well, then Gontor might as well just go sunbathing now and get it over with.

EDIT: I don't know if she's powerful enough to make much of a difference, but the woman with the dark curly hair was last seen fleeing in 1130 and, as far as I can tell, remains unaccounted for. As of 1128, it appears that only Gontor (by virtue of not being there), Ponchula, Dark Curly Hair, and Greg had not been dusted (and the new High Priestess of Hel, but she's safely locked away in a mountain top cathedral miles away). Ponchula dies in 1130 and Greg in 1131. So Curly is unaccounted for.
