Great. Now those plants and the fart ship are connected in my head.
    Maybe a side effect?
The fern grants amazing ink powers, but...
If so the ink witch is lucky Snout can't hear (or smell).

That would explain Aragorn Agamemnon Anorak the orc's outfit.

Ok now for a week or two worth of exposition to explain what the ever loving heck is going on, what happened with the other ink witches, who scary plant lady is, if they are in danger, where they need to go next, yadda yadda yadda.

    What do you mean, joke?
    That was clearly a prediction.

I mean I'm actually reading the comic that way now.
It certainly makes more sense than whatever it was supposed to be.

Dawww happy orc couple picture. Seeing as this is a mookie comic I imagine 5 seconds after it was taken, a meteor of necromantic energy devoured her in his arms, leaving the lungs for last so he could enjoy the screaming. Hmm, him and Eli from goblins should team up. We could discover entire new SPECTRUMS of grimdark.

Maybe she reincarnated into Snout, and that's why Agrabah has the hots for him.

A poly harem is at least fairly unusual so I say sure! Multiple men, women, ghosts, plant monster revenants, etc.

Unfortunately the very nature of the type of story we are in is going to be info dump heavy. Its a mystery story thats got so many separate mysteries all jumbled together that its almost impossible to NOT hit patches like this. Even more so when the main character is one who is isolated from most common methods of small reveals over time due to his deafness. Also, ive decided that orc caster is snouts dad.

Which, I think, is defeating the purpose of having a deaf character.

    Fixed that for you.

As to your first comment, I dunno, the info dump happening this way is a direct consequence of snout being unable to hear anything thats been said to date. As one example, the whole deal with the other ink witches, or why orc and ink witch were yelling at each other. Had he been a regular person with the ability to hear, he (and we) likely would have at least picked up bits and pieces of whats going on already, and this exposition would be shorter as its more clarification than a total info dump. In a way it actually fits perfectly for the setting. This is the only reasonable way for him to learn this stuff, and through him, us to learn it as well. Its not defeating the purpose, its a direct consequence of his deafness.

You're failing to understand. The point of writing a story from the sole perspective of someone with a sensory disability is to put the audience into their shoes and show people what it's like to live with an incomplete view of the world. Missing information should remain missing with only partial bits filtering in later. Using the protagonist's deafness as a shield to hide behind to create false mystery that will be answered moments later with massive exposition dumps is just exploiting the disabled to excuse bad writing. At best, it's missing the point. At worst, it's insulting and offensive.

I dunno, i find it more offensive to act like nobody will ever fill snout in because he is deaf and just kind of obliviously along for the ride. "Why does he need to know whats happening? Dudes deaf!" Just because you may not know whats going on at that particular point in time doesnt mean you should never be able to learn what was happening then. Going back to the ink witch attack thing, it was perfectly done with snout left in the dark because he couldnt hear what was going on, wasnt aware of how bad of an idea interjecting would be. But now he is in a position to learn what the heck happened back then just like a real deaf person might after seeing two acquaintances get into a fight and getting assaulted by strangers only to have to struggle to locate them again. We will have to wait and see just how brutal this exposition dump truly is before we can pass judgement, even though im sure its going to be at least a weeks worth of updates long.

    New comic

So Mr Deegan went to this Asperagus place, broke something important and now magic doesn't work right anymore?

    Edit
"Can't be used as a weapon"?
    Yeah no, not buying it.
Everything is a weapon if you're a bit creative.
I mean, Snout's house got blown up as a side effect.
And all those ink spikes/tentacles are probably not harmless either.

So he probably didn't just change magic, he messed with the minds of magic-users too.

We all know Dominic was just being a selfish jerk who wanted to keep seer magic all to himself.

Such blatant hypocrisy. When a good king messes with magic for the benefit of his own nation he's an evil madman who has to be stopped, but when Dominic messes with magic for his own petty reasons he's just "taking away weapons".

Come on now, obviously you can still fight with magic to some extent, I think the point was that something happened when DD died that basically lowered the magical power of the world by a significant amount and sealed away divination magic entirely. So the world went from wizards casting 9th level spells, to topping out at 5th level. Still dangerous but not so much world altering dangerous nukes flying around. Or its more that the powerful stuff is ritual based and thus cant fling meteor swarms around with casual ease, instead taking a circle of chanting mages 7 hours of prep time to cast. Probably a better phrasing would be its not JUST a tool for battle anymore. And yes, being able to control ink is a lot more subtle than momma deegan nuking the countryside, or demon infested infernomancers obliterating entire towns as a side effect of their attacks.
