I guess Jerk Orc is no longer a jerk thanks to the power of friendship.

But now what will we call him?

No, don't worry, Jerk Orc (Jork) is still a jerk. It's his long-suffering assistant Veth who's not a jerk.

Fun fact: Jork is apparently Melna's great-great-grandson or something.

Fun fact bis: "Daxethar Durnaks", that's another DD name. No wonder he's such a jerk, he's jealous that despite having the same alliteration, people don't give him the same fawning adoration they instinctively, automatically, unerringly have towards Dominic Deegan.

I legitimately didn't remember that there were two orcs. Mookie sure makes great characters.

Oh. Well. Being descended from Melna does a lot to explain why he's such a jerk if we decide to follow genetic determinism.

Is the Melna relationship just a hunch? Or is it in the comic?

By the way, I find it a bit hard not to consider the two a couple, when they're sharing a bed and she's naked.

Melna's full name was Melsheena Durnaks, his name is Daxethar Durnaks.

Melna was an only child when she was orphaned, so there presumably aren't a lot of other Durnakses roaming around.

Nice floating magic uterus. I guess she just got pregnant? Poor Snout. Probably has to pay alimony and didn't even have his 10 seconds of fun.

We have seen it before across a few pages during the teleport https://www.dominic-deegan.com/chapt...guage-barrier/ It definitely reminds me of an uterus with its tubes.

I think a pregnancy would add quite a bit to the comic, if handled right. It's probably not what's going on, however; just a reminder that it's an important symbol.

Why is Vine Lady huge? Is this a perspective thing, or is she actually bigger? I genuinely can't tell from the s*** art, and the distinction is important because of dream symbolism.

Looks a bit rape-y. I interpret this as someone or something trying to use Vine Woman's body for something, probably her uterus. If so, that would be indeed a step forward for Mookie as a artist.

Plant Woman is trapped by her nature as a plant woman, and Snout doesn't know how to help her. But maybe Snout's friend the Companion Cube has a solution?

Didn't we get exposition a while ago that the Ink Witches reject names and personal identification? So, why would they be thrilled about someone choosing a name? That seems very contradictory.

    No, they have names.
They just don't give them away to anyone.

Which doesn't make this less silly.

Do you think it's intentional that most characters give Snout that flirty look? Ink Witch in this page looks less like she asked him a deeply personal question and more like she told him to slip into something more comfortable and meet her in her room.

Clearly she and plant lady spent the day deciding to form a harem around snout and ink witch wants snout to come up with a cute pet name for her.

I am really not sure about how to read this last page, and I think the first panel was just badly drawn. Arudak's attitude when he gave the book from above was paternal, but Snout has been threading an odd "looks nice, feels nice" line with female companions. So he gets naked snuggles with them, but they are more like "total acceptance friendship snuggles". Which means no exclusivity. Also, since it's all about looking and feeling nice, he doesn't get naked snuggles with Arudak, who is a man, and so nowhere near as attractive as a naked chick. Which suggests that there actually is a sexual component in all of this, as others have noticed before me.

Lakes can be pretty big. The Caspian Sea, for example, is the world's largest lake. Though you can also look at it as the world's smallest ocean.

Snout shouldn't be allowed to name a dog much less a person. How is Inky legitimately the "best" name on his list?

    A dog?
    I wouldn't let him name a rock.
And I'm not talking some important landmark kind of rock or something here. Just some random stone dug up in the garden.
Snout wouldn't get to name it.

On the other hand he's called Snout.

He is kind, caring, hard working, eager to help, and a quick learning student of the scholarly fields. Im still not convinced that he hasnt been, to steal a phrase from buffy the vampire slayer, kept "fray adjacent" with his current mission in the library, but he is doing good work in general. But yes, his naming sense is not his strong suit. Most of those wouldnt even count as a decent pet name for someone. Some are terrible, others are terribly unimaginative. Like if arduak was overweight, calling him slim. Wow, that must have taken a long time to come up with!
