Energy Damage & Burst Damage Weapons
I have a question about these types of properties on magic weapons. I know there's lots of house rules on this but I would like to know what's the RAW on it.
Can you have both the Frost and Ice Burst properties on the same weapon? If yes do they stack (that's to say would the weapon deal 2d6 cold damage on a normal hit)?
Can you upgrade a Frost weapon to an Ice Burst Weapon? Suposing you had a +1 forst rapier and you wanted a +1 ice burst rapier could you pay only 10000gp to do it, since you're turning a weapon with a total bonus of +2 into one of +3?Arena Medals:

Re: Energy Damage & Burst Damage Weapons
From what I understand, with the MIC, the Energy Bursts are now Synergy properties that can only be added to the original Energy type, and are a +1. Since you have to have the basic energy, nothing changes, but it clears up confusion; they don't stack, but you do just increase it from +2 to +3.

Re: Energy Damage & Burst Damage Weapons
The energy property adds +1d6 damage; the burst property keeps this and adds an additional +1d8 (or more, if the crit-multiplyer is higher) on a successful crit, over and above the standard +1d6.

Re: Energy Damage & Burst Damage Weapons
From what they're saying such a weapon doesn't not exist. You either have the simple bonus or the burst one.

Re: Energy Damage & Burst Damage Weapons
Shocking Burst and Thundering work together just fine, since Thundering is sonic. But Shocking Burst already includes Shock, so you can't add another Shock on top of it.

Re: Energy Damage & Burst Damage Weapons
But when you're dealing only 1d6 it doesn't? What's the logic in that?
