Umm, we're actually both quoting William Blake. One of the greatest of London visionaries, poets, and radicals (although, sadly, his drawing skills left a lot to be desired).

'The Fly' is one of my least favourite in The Songs of Experience - I think both its theme and scansion are closer to poems in The Songs of Innocence.

'The Tiger' is one of the best poems in English literature - look at the theme: the nature of evil, the nature of the creator - talk about big. Look at the rhythm, the drama, the imagery - it's just such a wonderful poem for reading aloud.

Since we're on Blake, and the Songs of Experience, I just have to add:
"But most, through midnight streets I hear
    How the youthful harlot's curse
    Blasts the new-born infant's tear
And blights with plagues the marriage hearse."
    (Yay, for syphilis. )

Now Bacon also had some good ideas. I'm not too enamoured of his views on marriage, but he did give us:
"Reading maketh a full man, conference a ready man, and writing an exact man...Histories make men wise, poets, witty; the mathematics, subtle; natural philosophy, deep; moral, grave; logic and rhetoric, able to contend."

At least you got all the quotations correct, which is, in this thread, the main thing.

"That is the best part of beauty, which a picture cannot express; no, nor the first sight of the life."

"Nay, there is no stond or impediment in the wit but may be wrought out by fit studies, like the diseases of the body may have appropriate exercises."

Why don't you like the Tiger? (Wait, don't tell me here. Is there a current poetry thread in the media section?)

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
    - Antoine de Saint Exupéry, The Little Prince.

"As the bird trims her to the gale,
I trim myself to the storm of time,
I man the rudder, reef the sail,
Obey the voice at eve obeyed at prime:
    'Lowly faithful, banish fear,
    Right onward drive unharmed;
The port, well worth the cruise, is near,
And every wave is charmed.' "
    - Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Terminus."
