    Got a source?
Because my linked source in IMBD lists it as:
    Australia:MA15+ (2012)
    Germany:16 (video rating)
    Russia:18+
    Sweden:11 (DVD rating)
    United Kingdom:15
    United States:R

Althought I would not be surprised if there was a 'daytime' version also.

SyFy's been fined for playing fast and loose with the rating system before. This could've been another instance of that. Or they just cut a few things to make room for more commercials, which is a common gambit.

Based on a previous suggestion in this thread, I realize this would not work as an actual movie, but if they did a pun pun satire that would be hilarious. The party races to stop an evil kobold from completing a ritual that will turn him into a god. In a climactic finale the good guys are in a stalemate. The fighter calls out during the battle "so how do you become a god anyway?'

"Well it's simple, human. First, I wild shape into a sakkaruh and use assume supernatural ability to gain manipulate form..."

(Do a comedic 1.5x fast forwarding of the whole explanation)

The party then kind of just looks around at each other, shrug their shoulders, and leave. The kobold runs after them out of the cave

"Where are you going? It's 100% RAW I tell you. It's RAAaaaWww!!!!!'

Automatically pulls out a pokeball and yells, "Summon Archon!"

A Lantern Archon appears the party and villains are unimpressed however the archdevil the bad guys summoned takes one look and mutters, "Did I leave the stove on?" and promptly disappears!

Celestial Bureaucracy means there's never ONE Lantern Archon there's an entire Pantheon of Archons and the Gods they represent to worry about!

The pun idea might work with decent writing... hopefully.

But what is they're part of my fantasies?

Like, my fantasy settings are generally less racially diverse than people push for, but they still tend to have relative diversity and a variety of *insert trait here*. I remember explicitly writing the most common ethnicities and common stereotypes for one city, and at a later point expanding it to cover fantasy races in almost every city.

It might true out to be a romantic movie. Perhaps a damsel in distress saved by a knight in shining armor and then get married.

Your fantasies would never include the Colosseum or the "wonder of the world" hanging gardens? Because those are some pretty strange examples of places that you would never want to visit in a fantasy, and neither would anyone you know.

Given the popularity explosion of D&D recently, I wonder if it's just possibly mainstream enough to get the treatment it deserves.

I want to be optimistic and say it'll be passable, verging on actually decent.

The treatment it deserves? Unfortunately they seem to be intent on making it instead of taking the money and producing two smaller films based on original premises.

D&D might best work as a basis for a Bandersnatch-style choose your own adventure offering...
