Jim will probably become the older Anakin, since Anakin has the same gung-ho style that Jim has. Annie will become Amadala, which fits because there might be an OOC romance that blooms in part 2.

Everything else will remain the same, though Ben will be more than a little smug to become the senior Cheddar Monk I imagine.

Yes, but the *players* stay the same. The GM would not give Jim what is essentially a zero-combat role because Jim would just not find it fun. Several of the actions that Anakin does (leaping off the hovercar, slaughtering all the sandmen for probable XP, charging dooku before Obi-wan is ready) are much easier to explain with Jim playing Anakin than Annie.

Of course it is by no means certain, but that is what seems most logical to me.

Always a possibility, and it is also possible that a Series of Unfortunate Events prevent him from showing off his new Rogue skills. I just shudder at the idea of my favourite Darths and Droids character becoming my least favourite Star Wars character.

I too think this is the more probable path the comic will take. While Jim could take the role of Amadala (her role is currently free) and would lead to some nice jokes in the romance scene, his personality will be somewhat hard to express through what Amadala does in the second film and especially the third. Whereas Anakin has many more charge-in-without-thinking opportunities.

However I've only seen each film once a while back, so it's possible there's more than could be done to mix up the roles. And this webcomic does like to reverse the personalities of the film characters. However I'm not sure even Darths & Droids can make Anakin the sensible, level-headed one given the path he's got to take in the next two movies.

I'm seeing, in my mind's eye, Ben having to fight and kill Annie's character - not because Anakin has gone over to the Dark Side, but because Annie's determination to play a troubled psychotic at the expense of the rest of the game needs to be stopped.

There's even a small element of master-and-apprentice responsibility on Ben's side, because it was Ben who brought Annie into the game.

It could, but we've already seen the DM was willing to let Sally lead the Gungans to conquer Naboo and, presumably, eat the rest of the party. He might insist that any resolution happen IC.

Well Annie has already shown herself to lean a little to the Dark Side. Arguing with Yoda, killing Greedo, and she certainly wasn't happy with Jim's life being decided by dice rolls.
I expect she'll start raging against authority, maybe even arguing with the GM a whoooole lot.

I expect to see Jim continuing to play as Amidala and Annie continuing to play as Anakin Skywalker in the next arc. Of course, the characters will fall in love (or perhaps the players will start dating, since Jim is interested in Annie), so we'll get a romance story that involves two people playing opposite sex versions of themselves falling in love.

Oh yeah. It'll get weird.

Considering how much they tend to invert the original material, I think it's more likely that, while Annie will continue to play Anakin and Jim to play Amidala, they will absolutely loathe each other (or, at least, Anniekin will hate Jimdala).
