Well, hopefully a crit will help everyone forgive my tardiness.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
Too bad chain criticals are not a thing, I say! Not that the ogre should need more damage to go down, if that assessment of its current shape was correct.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
We should probably consider buying a communal wand of CLW with our loot should the opportunity arise.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
Full disclosure: I've been mulling over this puzzle for a few days, and I'm stumped. I am... Beyond dreadful at puzzles. But I figure Garrett should post anyhow.
DM, would a knowledge dungeoneering be able to provide any sort of hint here?

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
Well, I think Urag is on the right track with the words in the note, but I think it's one short? By my count 'right' is used five times, 'left' is used three times, and 'up' is used once, for a total of nine directions for ten levers.
Edit, nevermind, I think 'straight' is the for I'm looking for.Last edited by spectralphoenix; 2023-02-20 at 03:03 PM.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
So, maybe the words in the note are the directions to push the levers, in order? (Sorry if that's obvious, again, really bad at puzzles). Would putting the gems in value order make sense?

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
I had an idea with the first letter of each sentence, but there are only 9 sentences, and the letters don't quite match up anyhow.

Well, if there's ten pairs, we don't have enough to make a clock face, so that can't be the time angle...

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
Are birthstones a thing in this world? An arrangement of birthstones by time of year could give:
Garnet
Amethyst
Diamond
Emerald
Moonstone
Ruby
Sapphire
Opal
Topaz
Turquoise
I'm not sure how that would arrange the items, though. Maybe something related to holes?
Also, do the levers have grooves or something for the items to fit into?Last edited by spectralphoenix; 2023-02-21 at 12:14 AM.

Maybe it's visible spectrum? So ruby-garnet-topaz-emerald-turqouise-sapphire-amethyst and wherever the other three fit based on colour?

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
It's also possible that the whole business with the gems and items are meant as a distraction, and it's only the levers that actually matter (a waste of the time we have left, so to speak.) I'm not really sure how one uses a ring or a brooch to switch a lever after all. Or perhaps there's only one correct item, probably one that can be used to push things like the sword or scepter?

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
Whoops I rolled (and meant) Search, not spot (which would have +4). Oh well, proper intention was there.

I would imagine that gives you an out of body experience, astral projecting into the future and breaking the fourth wall. All kinds of fun.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
And
7250 GP (in assorted gold, silver and platinum). There are also 4 items of interest which Sonomy is able to identify, they are a short sword +3, a periapt of Wisdom +2, a great axe +2, a potion of Cats Grace +4, and a potion of Haste.
@Mikaela: what is the selling ratio you use in your campaign?Ruven Feathers, tengu opportunist with a keen eye for gold and an accute scent for death.

50% on a straight resale.
If however, you wish to update an item, say from +2 to +3 you pay only the difference.Last edited by MikelaC1; 2023-02-24 at 12:01 PM.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
+1 leather armor x6 (market price: 6k, 3k after selling)
+1 Falchion x6 (market price: 12k, 6k after selling)
+3 Shortsword (maket price: 18k, 9k after selling)
+2 Periapt of Wisdom (market price: 4k, 2k after selling)
+2 Greataxe (market price: 8k, 4k after selling)
Potion of Cat's Grace (market price: 300gp, 150gp after selling)
Potion of Haste (market price: 750gp, 375gp after selling)
Sub-Total:
Market price: 49.050
After sold for 24.525
Plus the 7.375 GP in assorted gold, silver and platinum.
Total: 31.900 gp
Divided by 6, that's an aproximated 5.316gp worth of treasure for everyone. But since Garret will be taking the +3 shortsword (which would cost more from his share), he'll have a 3.684k debt with the party.
Total without the sword: 22.900gp
Dividing that ammount from what everyone else would gain, it means everyone else will get 4580 worth of gold.
Urag will be taking the +2 axe and the Potion of Haste (if that's okay for everyone), leaving him with 205gp left for his share.
He'll also sell his older +1 axe for 500gp.
Spoiler: Note regarding calculationNot including masterwork and base price from itemsRuven Feathers, tengu opportunist with a keen eye for gold and an accute scent for death.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
Perhaps we should take this opportunity to rest and buy new equipment?
After that, if nothing else comes up, maybe we should return to Frontiere. It sounded like there was more to explore there, and maybe we could learn something if we track down the rest of the gang. Was there anything else on the map we got from the bugbears?Last edited by spectralphoenix; 2023-02-25 at 04:16 PM.

Re: The Treasure Map (OOC)
I guess we can sell everything, buy stuff and go back to investigate the ruins and lay low.
