The Rock Lobber...
Well, i'm not sure how many on here have played the D20 version of Wheel of Time but I had created a Rock lobber to use in conjunction with the Grenede spell. Simply put it was a cross-bow like contraption that you would load with specially rounded fist sized rocks. You would cast Grenede on the rocks and then gain a 80ft range increment for launching them. I always thought it was nice to up-grade from the sling and the lower level grenade effect (Pebbel sized, D8 dmg to a single target).
Has anyone else played Wheel of Time and do you think this was a clever idea for the game?

Re: The Rock Lobber...
Well, I've played the system... Actually it was my first tabletop RPG both as a player, regular player, and DM.
Increasing the range increment is a nice little trick to make the Grenade spell more effective. (An alternative to dropping fireballs).
There are some issues with the game (that I won't go into here), but suffice it to say that a well-made Channeler will *always* dominate combat. I've also thought that the game really requires a DM-generated update to support the later books (especially new weaves), and the incorporation of the A Game of Thrones D20 Influence mechanic would probably help running this as a heavy-RP game (which I think is the only way to play in a setting this detailed)."Chess, like love, like music, has the power to make men happy." --Siegbert Tarrasch

Re: The Rock Lobber...
I'm so sorry for this, but The Urge is too great...
SpoilerWe were at a party
His ear lobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster
We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster
Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
S'in a giant clam
Down, down
Underneath the waves
Mermaids wavin'
Wavin' to mermen
Wavin' sea fans
Sea horses sailin'
Dolphins wailin'
Red snappers snappin'
Clam shells clappin'
Muscles flexin'
Flippers flippin'
Down, down
Let's rock!
Boy's in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'
Twistin' 'round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun
Put on your noseguard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter
Here comes a stingray
There goes a manta-ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dogfish
Chased by a catfish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that piranha
There goes a narwhale
HERE COMES A BIKINI WHALE!Last edited by Burley; 2008-01-25 at 01:54 PM.

Re: The Rock Lobber...
I was soooo thinking the same thing. Even thought about making some adventuring lyrics for it instead. Beaten to the punch!
Aw, heck with it!
SpoilerWe were adventuring!
His hit points fell minus 1
Someone reached for a potion
It was a Rock Lobber!
We were in a dungeon!
Everyone had level 5's
Someone sprung a pit trap
And fell onto a rock
But it wasn't a rock ...
It was a ROCK LOBBER!"Everything is better on fire."
