Unusual mount
I'm making a halfling outrider and I'm trying to find a suitable but unusual mount.
I've thought about a medium monstrous spider but it can't carry enough weight.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: Unusual mount
How about a "small" version of an existing animal? In an old 1E campaign our party's Paladin had a half sized elephant for a mount.
In my last 3.5 campaign llamas were the steed of choice for Halflings. We also had a Dire Goat.

Re: Unusual mount
I forgot to ad that it has to be either from the SRD or Tome of Battle and since my character is lvl. 6 it can't have a challenge rating higher than 3. (2 if it can fly)

Re: Unusual mount
Apes and Baboons are fun but apes might be too large and baboons to weak. Therefore I propose hell hounds

Re: Unusual mount
Just buy a Warbeast T-Rex for 1525 gold and use it as mount. The Warbeast template is in MM2, and it is perfect for a mount or your personal army of war-dinosaurs :D
Alternatively you can buy any animal as warbeast and use it as mount^^Last edited by Wabbajack; 2008-03-20 at 05:10 PM.

Re: Unusual mount
I once had a gnome who rode an ox. Their cheap, can carry a lot, but might be a wee bit slow.
and honestly, what beats the image of a gnome on an ox, wondering down the road while playing his bagpipesLast edited by Bierhoff; 2008-03-20 at 05:35 PM.

Re: Unusual mount
Go for an ogre. CR 3, large, poundy, and you "steer" him by rapping his ear.

Re: Unusual mount
This: Worg
Do not disgrace yourself by riding a dinosaur. Come to think of it, aks the DM if you can enter the halfling outrider aas a Goblin for twice the awesome. Whatever. Worgs are very good mounts. Also, thanks to Wayril for the nice Avatar!

Re: Unusual mount
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned a boar yet. I have a half-orc paladin of freedom riding a dire boar in my current campaign. We've decided he looks like the moblin from Twilight Princess.

Re: Unusual mount
go with the halfling goat thing in Races of the wild. They can also be your animal companion if you are part ranger. Either that or dire weasel maybe.Maybe some sort of lizard if you want climbing ability.
I take this game with the seriousness it deserves.
Not all that much. It's a game.

Re: Unusual mount
Dire Housecat.
A Ram instead of a Goat.
Giant Slug, call it a Racing Snail, heh heh.
Giant Frog.
Animated Object, like a small wooden toy horse.
Giant Lizard, call it a Geko and get some cool climbing goodness. Or if you like sneaking around, go with a Giant Chameleon like thing."I am bleeding, making me the victor!" - Wimp Lo, 'Kung Pow'
"Nonsense! I would never do such a thing unless you were already having been going to do that!" - Professor Hubert Farnsworth A, 'Futurama'

Re: Unusual mount
You can never go wrong riding a Large Viper into combat. Or a Small Giant Frog.
