Is This Theme Good For Mood Music When The Players Are Fighting A Lovecraftian Being?
EDIT: Stupid computer....Wouldn't let me finish the post...
Since the Title says most of the post by itself, I'm just going to say that I define "Lovecraftian being" as "Astronomically powerful terrorfying creature from 'beyond the stars' as he would put it".

My Homestuck role is Thane of Space of the Land of Insanity and Frogs.
The Malkavians would be proud.

I'd have to say no. Doesn't feel right.
How exactly would the battle work?

Something suggests "run away~" or "we lose" or "we die"

Re: Is This Theme Good For Mood Music When The Players Are Fighting A Lovecraftian Be
Well, he wasn't always a Lovcraftian being (he was from "beyond the stars" though), but by the time they fight him, he's literally a ball of the psychic energy of hatred and violence made manifest. Essentially, a reality-breaking being by his existance alone.
The PCs aren't going to truly "defeat" him, just banish him to a plane of existance where he can't do any harm. Of course, he's not going to just sit by while they do this, so they'll have to deal with his aspect while avoiding/surviving the attacks of the real him(which I am going to give names like "Eldritch Apocalypse", "Heretic's Jihad", "Reality of Insanity", "Necromicon's Call"...The usual "cool final boss attack names").My Homestuck role is Thane of Space of the Land of Insanity and Frogs.
The Malkavians would be proud.

Re: Is This Theme Good For Mood Music When The Players Are Fighting A Lovecraftian Be
for me, the music feels more fitting to the prelude before fighting the creature- exploration, suspense, perhaps some paranoia, but not the battle itself. the music downs't have a fast pace, a pumping adrenalin rush as any serious battle needs to have.
pick somethign far more paced, perhaps with reverabrating bass sounds for the battle, keep this track for whatever comes before.
just my opinion,
Kol.

Use the original. Much, much creepier.

I must disagree with the previous posters.
Do you want a soundtrack for horrific, sanity-devouring beings from beyond, whose mere existence damages the very fabric of reality?
Celine Dion, definitely Celine Dion - maybe with some Spice Girls thrown in for optimal damage

No, that would be TOO cruel. Isn't that outlawed by the UN yet?

i'm guessing suggesting the X-Files theme would be wildly unoriginal, but it is one I tend to strongly associate with creepies. But then, I preferred earliest series.

Bringing this topic back to serious suggestions:
Holst, Mars, the Bringer of War...
I also remember getting quite an otherwordly mood using Mozart's concerto for Flute and Harp simultaneously with Bo Hansson's The Grey Havens.
Start Bo Hansson at about the time the flute starts her first solo...There aren't really any exclusive or original ideas on TVTropes. That's kind of the point.

Re: Is This Theme Good For Mood Music When The Players Are Fighting A Lovecraftian Be
The way I see it, you need something that's creepy, incomprehensible, or both.
For my top recommendation: Xiu Xiu sounds like music that came from an alternate dimension. This is one of the more approachable songs by them: you can probably find something crazier.
If that's too intense for you, we have the nearly as weird but nowhere near as creepy Battles. This is probably their most normal song too, by the way.
If you just want creepy, you can't go wrong with finding yourself a copy of the Portal soundtrack. You might not notice it during actual gameplay, but the music in Portal is extremely disquieting.
And lastly, there's always Skaven. Try Samurai Ghost and They Crave.
If all else fails: take a Blind Guardian or Dragonforce song, open it up in a sound editor, reverse it and screw with the pitch.

Re: Is This Theme Good For Mood Music When The Players Are Fighting A Lovecraftian Be
All this talk of "ball of the psychic energy of hatred and violence made manifest" made me think of Giygas from Earthbound. Here is your music Giygas was evil itself, so powerful his alien form was destroyed. Here is a still picture of the roiling mass of hate and power that Giygas was: Moaning skulls are cool. There was also the theory that Giygas is (or was) a fetus. Here is the theory, watch for them spoilers!
