Is there some sort of excerpt or preview that we could take a look at? Otherwise I don't see the point of this thread other than to advertise, which is a no-no according to the GitP forum rules.

It's a "gag" book, free download.

It was plastered all over Enworld a while back.

I dunno, I didn't find the joke especially funny...

Yeah, it's a free "purchase". Just look at the thing.

It claims to be usable with any system, which leads me to suspect that the "rules" in it are:

There's a sidebar there on fire immunity, though.

Yeah, it has been around for some months, but the rules remain as relevant as ever. Expeditious Retreat Press produce some great stuff.

It's odd, one of the books cited at the end is immortals handbook, which is a third-party book about characters strong enough to actually take damage from lava and still survive. The joke seems even less funny once I noticed that.

Not surprisingly, not informative. No rules on lava cooling rates, the appropriate size of object needed to form a stepping stone across lava, convection, swimming in lava for the fire-immune individual, bathing in lava, diving into lava rather than falling, lava falling on you, etc.

Man, I need to use this in a CoC game.

I'll carry a drop of lava around and then put it in the way of Cthulhu. He dies, no save.

But that's stepping onto lava. You only die when you fall into lava.

Well, we could carry three drops, two to kill both feet and the last so he could fall into it properly after his feet die.

    In a ceramic vial?

We can hold other sorts of molten rock in certain containers, I'm sure we can hold lava.

Of course, to hold it in non-frozen form, that is the big challenge.

Honest to lawfulness, yes. This was mainly based on the fact that different systems can have wildly different HP scales (full health in the old World of Darkness games for a significantly superhuman creature is 5 points, IIRC), but "dead" means about the same thing in every system. So for something to be usable with all systems, it pretty much had to either be "dead", or a bunch of pages of huge tables ("If you're playing old World of Darkness, lava does 4 health points per round. If you're playing 2nd edition D&D, it does 20d6 damage per round. If you're playing GURPS, it does...").

It was amusing, and in 90+% of the cased, that rule works.

If should be noted that fire immunity usually isn't enough, you'll suffocate and/or be crushed to death.

The title is misleading - the addition of 'Brimstone' implied to me that it would include rules for the usage of lava-related material, such as the speed of magma flows in various terrain, and the cooling rate of exposed lava before it is no longer possible to fall into it. Plus, the possibility of bits of molten rock falling from an exploding volcano.

This is awesome. I particularly like how they detailed the different way it applies in D&D as opposed to World of Darkness.
