Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
By, "mecha", I of course mean giant robots.
And here it is: Meglomania. My Homestuck role is Thane of Space of the Land of Insanity and Frogs.
The Malkavians would be proud.

Pfft, too repetitive. And not sufficiently epic.

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
I am not Elzam von Branstein, but I am totally overriding your song.
But for a boss, let's go with Violent Battle or Teh Valsion. Or, if you absolutely must have nothing you cannot cut, The Gate of Magus.
Frankly, there's no need for me to stop posting my endless combo of Super Robot Wars music in this subject. The whole franchise is full of awesome music, and this is just scratching the surface of the non-licensed stuff. Check out SRW and JAM Project's entries in Crowning Music of Awesome.Last edited by Nerd-o-rama; 2008-09-23 at 09:36 PM.

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
I think there was a thread like this before.
Vortex Infinitum. (Guilty Gear XX #Reload)
To Judge or Be Judged (SRW)
If you want something a bit slower and grander:
CHAOS (SRW)
I also second Nerd-o-Rama's suggestions. Super Robot Wars music is excellent.

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
I'd personally suggest The Gate of (the) Hell, segueing into VICTORY when the heroes definitively take the advantage and/or when someone in the party does something genuinely awesome.
Or you could use any of the other suggestions. Or anything by JAM Project, for that matter. They're just that good.
I do think we ought to consolidate these Music threads though. You're here requesting a soundtrack every other week, it seems.Current Games:

I was always partial to Stoning, but then again, I always did have a penchant for the dramatic.

The RPG game genre is heavily overrepresented on this forum.
So let's try something a little different.Belkar's Bad to the Bone.

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
SRW, Xenogears and TTGL... this thread is made of win.
*cracks knuckles*
What kind of a mech would that boss be? Are the players riding mecha themselves, or are they on foot?
Most of the good songs have already been suggested... but most, not all!
Rocks by JAM Project - extremely hot-blooded!
And, something completely different, Flight from Xenogears - my favorite music from this game.
Siela Tempo by the talented Kasanip. Tengu by myself.

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
GONG is my favorite JAM Project song.
Though it's not really so much for the beginning part of the battle. It's more for when the party's reached their limit and is trying to find that extra supernatural strength within them to kick the BBEG's rear all the way to mecha hell.
The Album version has an added orchestrated intro.
Game BGM version (couldn't find one that's audio only).

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
Most of these song have too much of a fantasy feel to them for Mecha, I would go with something more sci-fi.
I think almost all the PSO "IDOLA" songs would work, this is just my favorite.

Liberi Fatali- FF8.
I can't find a good version of it online, but you can download a good version if you look for it. I can't find where, unfortunately.

Re: Good Music For A "Mecha" Boss?
Delving into Touhou, there's also UN Owen Was Her?
Of course, that one would work better with ye olde What-dost-thou-mean-it's-not-symbolic.
The Galaxy Reactor from Super Mario Galaxy would work nicely, too.
Zorba the Greek could work.
(Yes, I'm aware I'm stretching it for that one)
O Fortuna is undeniably epic.

Ah, C&C music.
I prefer the Kane's Wrath version of Act on Instinct.

No specific examples, but maybe something gabber or D&B? Hey, maybe Spor. Okay, I guess I do have an example.
