What's good music for fighting Tiamat?
Hey all,
So tomorrow I'm throwing my group against Tiamat's Aspect, and I thought I'd get some good background music for the battle. I don't usually play music during the game, but I always have my computer around and I thought I'd make an exception for the epic Big Boss Fight.
Anyway, my usual ideas for background music are of course leaning in the direction of video game RPG soundtracks, but I figured I'd see if anyone has any particular suggestions? Thanks

Esper Battle from Final Fantasy XII.
Actually, that's pretty good for any epic fight.

"One Winged Angel", but overdub the shouts of "Sephiroth!" with "Tiamat!" yourself.
Ahem. Real suggestions to come.

Oh don't go the Orff route. If it sounds like the Excalibur soundtrack, avoid with prejudice. O Fortuna has become a parody of itself.

Has lyrics, but is suitably epic, and the lyrics are entirely appropriate.

Re: What's good music for fighting Tiamat?
I never said these are fitting for this battle. I said they're better than 1WA. And if the techno remix of Fighting the Spirit isn't to your tastes... there are different ones, even metal. All of them rock, although not as much as the original SNES version which is nowhere to be found on youtube. Sadly.

Re: What's good music for fighting Tiamat?
The original SNES version? This is it, I believe. Although some of the instrument voices seem cut... this one has all voices but is an actual battle clip.
My picks:
Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille zur Macht - The Escape
Final Fantasy XII - Esper Battle
First one's evil, menacing and brassy. Second one has a chorus voice, piercing tubular bell strikes and a martial drumbeat.Need a place to hang? Like Discord? Re: What's good music for fighting Tiamat?
FFXII's Esper Battle is definitely a good one, but there's also the Black Mages' cover of FFVI's "Dancing Mad," from the final battle with Kefka. It has the advantage of being fairly long, so you won't have to loop quite as much (assuming that's what you do), and of being associated with a Big Bad whom old-time gamers really
love tohate.

Re: What's good music for fighting Tiamat?
All of the Black Mages' covers are fairly long. Sadly, Battle on the Big Bridge and Seymour Battle don't lend themselves well to a fight with Tiamat.
Perhaps their cover of Zeromus, The Extreme or even J•E•N•O•V•A would be more appropriate.
Dancing Mad shifts tone far too much to be thematically relevant to Tiamat. The slow, churchy organ in particular is off. Also, their cover uses a cheesy electric organ in the last segment.
The original was in fact most awesome though. And I again urge those who have never heard it to try "The Escape."
Mr. Bookworm: Dead on.
Worira: Thank you. That is awesome.Need a place to hang? Like Discord? Don't mind dealing with a capricious demon lord? Then you're welcome to join our LGBTQ+ friendly, often silly, very geeky server to discuss food, music, video games, tabletop, and much more.
