Whoops, completely forgot about this.

While Bon Bon is tempting, I can basically do that already given enough time to listen to the voice. It's great fun to suddenly start talking like Gollum in mid-sentence. And besides, I'm a computer scientist, an avid gamer, and I just realized I'm sitting an awful lot like L from Death Note right now because it's the only pose that feels comfy in this short chair of mine. The gummy dimension was slaved to the current universe branch's meta-cloud, so its evisceration did nothing to affect neighboring timelines. I watch the Multiverse, not the Universe. What you remember having done has not so far impacted anything of note under my jurisdiction. Anything you don't remember having done.. is best not mentioned. Really, staying unnoticed is my job. I literally do nothing, make nothing, enforce and proliferate nothing. As long as my job is done right, not you, nor any other you in any other branch of the multiverse will notice that anything has been done. Which is why it's always best if I don't speak of what I'm doing, especially if it involves touchy subjects like universe substitution for you dimension-hopping people.

Personally, I'm in agreement with Deadly that Luna should be the more powerful sister. Smaller, but packed with magic. However, I think Celestia would be the more likely one to act directly, as the thematic nature of night is to take covert and subtle actions.

Personally, I prefer to think of the sisters having equal-yet-differing power. The "Luna is stronger and also more subtle" theory suggests that Luna is the better sister in all arenas, and that offends my sense of symmetry. I like thinking that while Luna possesses the raw power and willingness to use it, Celestia is the more subtle and manipulative sister.

That then gets passed around and whatnot, and the big advantage is I also don't know exactly what I'm going to get (there might be one or two items I put at the top of the priority). And a good half-to-two-thirds of the point of opening presents is that you don't know what you're getting - you may suspect, but there's still a big element of surprise.

There's nothing worse than someone who only wants one thing for their birthday, because not only does it make hard for everypony else, it also raises the chances that you might not be able to get it.

I can't see Twilight not using a list - she's far too (over-)organised and obessive not to.

I'm just going to agree with everything Bleakbane just said for the reasons he explained. Twilight having a prepared list of precisely what sort of gifts she'd like is just so completely in character for her.

I'm actually going to be the voice of dissent here and say that Twilight may actually be the most difficult to realistically shop for. Rare books (or dense books) that she doesn't already own, rare magical components, new science gear, these all have one very important thing in common; they tend to be very, very expensive. You might be able to pool money with friends and get her one nice thing a year, but that's not something you can do for every occasion.

Barring that, I get the feeling that Twilight would genuinely like a lot of things, but asking her to pick just one thing that she wanted would drive her up the wall. She's the type of pony that likes questions with definite answers, or ones with just a few different possible choices. Asking her to pick just one thing out of an entire universe of possibilities would just leave her at a loss of what to do. She'd likely either end up saying "Oh, just use your own judgement, you know me," or a week later she'll give you a massive list of things that she might want, with little indication of preference. So unless you're prepared to spend some bits, I think she's actually tricky to shop for.

Well, we've see Celestia do a head to head vs. Chyrsalis, and been told that she relied on the elements of harmony to beat Nightmare Moon. Equestria seems to have just enough hints of battle that it's plausible for various ponies of differing magical aptitudes to go at one another. And, being normal, talkative ponies that we are, one can conjecture how various match-ups would turn out.

Princess Luna is an odd one actually. Her displays of power and magic are anything but subtle, yet at the same time her emotions for it are hard to place sometimes.

Take when she was speaking to Twilight Sparkle. She lets her know that she is aware of who Twilight is and is happy to have had the dark power removed from her, but she's yelling and the very weather is responding to her without even a sparkle on her horn. Her emotions and intentions are every bit as subtle as they should be for a member of Royalty, but her power?

Clouds move to her will, the winds blow harder with her, lighting flashes out of nowhere whenever she even begins to be dramatic.

So either she has a lot of power that doesn't need horn magic, or she's taught her Nightguard how to be sneaky and they've been handling the effects.

On a more serious note, I don't think so. I guess there is the awkwardness and weird looks I get whenever I buy a pony toy at the store, so there is that, but aside from that, not really. I tend to like what I like and let other people like what they like [so long as their likes don't include something like "torturing kittens" or the like...]. Life is much easier that way.
