Re: A question on PrCs
Actually, if you can break WBL rules for a few levels. You can take Mindbender at fourth if you have an Orange Ioun Stone and a Ring of Arcane Might. Also, can be taken at 5 with just one. Course you need to have all the skills as class skills to hit that soon.

Re: A question on PrCs
Paragnostic Apostle from CC. Asimar has 3rd lvl spell-like ability so he can qualify for it at ECL3 as wizard or anything that has at least two knowledge skills as class skills.

Re: A question on PrCs
Precisely my point. In general you aren't supposed to be able to break WBL rules for a few levels, either.
Interesting. Although one might claim that the PA prestige class requires 3rd-level spell like abilities, as in plural, and the Aasimar only has one.Guide to the Magus, the Pathfinder Gish class.

Re: A question on PrCs
Hmm, I don't suppose you could qualify for Blood Magus (which is a bit easier skill-wise than mind bender) by taking Arcane thesis. Technically, you would have an arcane caster level of 5, but only for one spell.

Re: A question on PrCs
As stated, one generally can not enter a PrC until fifth level. To the best of my knowledge, Wizards set it up this way so that a character has time to develop itself. In this sense, a player has time to get used to a paticular style of playing before specializing itself into a paticular niche.
