Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
FYI: I was always timely on night kills() and the "4 werewolf" thing really was from a previous game (and no, I'm not trying to misdirect you, as it does not really even matter if you know the number of death eaters in the game).
Oh well.

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
Well since the game is not over, we know there's at least 1 more wolf left.
So, let's see here.
15 players - 3 dead wolfs & at least 1 more out there.
Roles discovered
Seer
Fool
Mason
Loving Parent
Devil
Wolf
Wolf
Now to extrapolate the roles that are left in the game.
1 mason = 2+, so there's a mason left.
Baner - who according to Cyberwolf has only baned himself.
Loving parent = Harry Potter is still out there and kicking and 1 other possible parent.
A wolf, obviously.
And cross that against players who are still alive. 6 of us are still alive....
FC
Thufir
Lex-Kat
Tialait
Alarra
Supagoof
The thing that really gets me thinking is the clue Cyberwolf let Kroy post.
Ruler's Avatar Rent
And being that this is a Harry Potter game, I think it may be coded in the same way that the Tom Marvelo Riddle was jumbled up and then re-spelled into I Am Lord Voldemort. So if that's the case....
Fleeing Coward - Nope. No F, C, I, G, O, W or D in Ruler's Avatar Rent
Thufir - Nope. No H, F or I in Ruler's Avatar Rent
Lex-Kat - Nope. No X or K in Ruler's Avatar Rent
Tialait - Nope. Again, No I in Ruler's Avatar Rent
Supagoof - Nope, no P, G, O or F in Ruler's Avatar Rent
Which leaves....
Alarra - Well well well. Ruler's Avatar Rent, but what's the rest. u - e - r - s - v - t - r - e - n - t.
sure vent tr
vue sent rrt
trent v sure
never trust - AHA.
Ruler's Avatar Rent = Never Trust Alarra.
Bad Dobby! You did it again, you helped 'Arry Potter against the master's wishes. Bad bad Dobby. Dobby 'sposes Dobby will have to go iron out Dobby's ears for an hour after this. But helping 'Arry is worth the pain to Dobby.

Night 5 Ends
The Death Eater walked through the meadow, carrying a scythe and happily decapitating flowers as he went along.
When he cut down the lily, Harry Potter sat bolt upright.
He could have sworn he just heard his mother's scream.
Lex-kat was lynched. She was Lily, a Loving Parent.
Day 6 Begins
And ends in a few days

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
Well, I assumed if Harry was attacked and saved by the sacrifice of a loving parent it would be reported as such, rather than just saying the loving parent was killed.

Nope. In fact, James was killed as a result as an attack on Harry.
I just announced it as a normal night kill.

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
And with that we know Harry is still alive.
Which means roles left...
Harry
Mason
Baner
Wolf
?
And people left...
Tialait
Thufir
Supagoof
Alarra
FC
Probably with roles corresponding to players in that order.
Here's my logic in that.
Tialait - Seemed indifferent about being lynched. Probably thinking that loving parent would save from lynching should it happen.
Thufir - Paying attention to game and active, so likely a role that would get them involved, but not enough to fight so defensively when suggested for lynch.
Supagoof - I know who I am.
Alarra - because of the message left.
FC - probably a villager, due to his inactivity, but that could also be very "wolfish" behavior.
The only thing I am really questioning is if we have 1 or 2 wolves left. If 1 left, then the they've already lost, because they can't kill the baner who keeps baning himself at night. If 2 - well then we'll figure that out after today's lynch.

Oh. Well if it's a MAD scientist, that's ok.
Course I have no idea who is or isn't lying. For all I know Harry is actually Luna Lovegood in disguise.

Long days make Goof bored. Bored Goof writes parodies. Really bored Goof breaks games
[Music = Long Day by Matchbox 20]
I'm smiling at the anicdote,
Reading through, the note he wrote
And I can't wait for Cyber to end this day
It told me
I could trust everyone else but you,
And believe in what they say
Cause Voldermort is gone
I'm sorry 'bout the attitude
I need to give while I write this tune
But it's time to end this day to me
And I'm not
Terrified of no one else, not me
I'm here all the time
I won't go away
It's me, yeah I can give myself a bane today
It's me, yeah I can give myself a bane today
Dear Mod you shouldn't die this way
Found out some things, they won't stop it.
You'll just have to trust in me
It's been a long day, always wait for night
Cyberwolf your post can stop it
Don't fear the ending
It's been a long day, always wait for night
Well I'm surprised we found them right
Since I hadn't saved the seers at night
I didn't hear from them or anyone else
But that's cuz
PMs weren't to be sent, do stop waiting
Sorry to lynch all you wolves so fast
So what, so long
Found out some things, they won't stop it.
You'll just have to trust in me
It's been a long day, always wait for night
Cyberwolf your post can stop it
Don't fear the ending
It's been a long day, always wait for night

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
DAY 6 ENDS
The members of Dumbledore's Army had cornered the figure. Reaching forwards, Harry tugged off the hood.
It was....
Mrs Weasley?!?!
"Wait a second," said Harry, "you're visiting Ginny today, aren't you?"
"That I am, dear," said Mrs Weasley, with a large smile.
"Hey!"
They turned to see a sixth-year, pointing at a person.
Same eyes.
Same hair.
Same clothes.
Same Mrs Weasley.
"Wha-"
Mrs Weasley 1 shoved Harry aside, and shot a Killing Curse at him. It missed by millimeters, igniting one of the trees.
She then fired cursed in every direction - at Seamus, at Dean, at Zacharias...
...and at Ginny.
"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU *****!"
Mrs Weasley 2 draw her wand and began casting every jinx imaginable. Mrs. Weasley 1 blocked most, and sent some of her own back. In the blur of magic, Harry thought he saw Mrs Weasley 1 change, as if an illusion had faded.
Then the curse struck her straight over the heart.
Bellatrix Black toppled to the floor, and there was much rejoicing as the news spread.

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
Woot. Okay - so Thank You Cyberwolf for running the game. We're always happy to have new games & new narrators try them out. You narrations were fun.
On that note, I have some suggestions/thoughts about the game, and please don't take any offense from them. It's just stuff to help you run better games in the future.
1. Please have a co-narrator help you with the game next time. Un-timely updates in a game = loss of player interest = games that have gone into history are never get mentioned again.
2. Speaking of timely updates - Extending the night/day with the claim "Waiting for wolf actions to come in* hurts that team. Players will watch whose on and when, if say a night kill doesn't happen, gravitate to who hasn't been on the board and lynch them. It's almost a free scry for the village. Timing can inadvertently hurt a player. One thing to keep in mind with the updates is also "Narrator's influence", where a narrator's wording can affect the game. Like for example *Note - The baner's only baned himself* tempted me to respond with an *I know* comment, which would in fact tell everyone my role.
3. No PM rule for wolves - okay, when you made the update that the wolf PMs should only happen at night, I was kinda shocked. The wolves know each other, so like the masons - they should be able to PM each other freely night and day. If not for the obvious commincation to help each other keep from getting lynched, but also for the fact that players are around the world on this board. So in order to coordinate better with night actions etc...the lines of commication for wolves should not be hindered.
4. The clue "Rulet's Avatar Rent" shouldn't have been allowed in. It would be fine if it's know at the begining of the game that the dead can speak - because then Alarra could have been more careful of who she was trying to trick - but generally allowing the dead to make comments after they die is not allowed in games. For the obvious example here. While I do love the use of a riddle like that, and the way in which Kroy worded it, I believe Alarra would have been quite upset at seeing it.
5. Banes - if someone who is baned is attacked, then the wolves shouldn't be able to pick someone else because that person was baned, even if he was baning himself. I heard about this, and went "WHAT?". Because of that's the case, what's the point in protecting someone if it's not going to stop the player-base from growing smaller anyway. As well as indicate who the baner is without them using a scry. Also - for future thought - if you don't want someone to bane themself, there is a role we call "Careless Baner" which does just that. I created and use it in a few of my games, and it does add a level of intrigue when the baner can't sit back and do what I did in this game.
6. James & Lily - this worked. It may have sucked for Reinholdt and Lex-Kat, but mechanic wise - the wolves not only were able to gain information about who they attacked and killed, but still got a kill anyway - so it didn't hurt them to have this in the game. Perhaps to make it a little more neutral in effect on the game in the future - James and Lilly should know each other?
But I think you have a solid foundation for a continuing game here. Next time you run it hopefully well have more players (summer start in the US tends to drop player enrollment) so you'll be able to use more of the roles you had - such as Lucious Malfoy and Professor McGonigal.

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
OK, so thoughts:
Also, players are told at the start of the game that days and nights will be so long. If they haven't got their action in in time, they don't get that action. If they think they're going to miss a night phase, they can send it in in advance.
But yeah, don't give things away. A piece of information like "The baner's only baned himself" may not seem to be useful information to anyone, but it might be somehow, or there's what Goof just said. Better to err on the side of caution.
Agreed. Dead WW players tell no tales, as a general rule, so unless you have specific rules in place allowing it, it shouldn't happen. And if there are such rules, they should be stated up front, otherwise the victim of them (In this case, Alarra), will feel they have been cheated out of if not a victory, then at least a potentially closer game.
I have the same reaction as Goof. All caps and everything. If someone who's baned is attacked, they just survive. You have to stick to the rules you've stated; or, if you're changing them, state that you're changing them - but in general you should just say "Well, this isn't turning out quite as I expected, I'll change it for the next game."
I have a kind of different view. I agree the roles of James, Lily and Harry didn't hurt the wolves. In fact they helped them. Which doesn't seem quite right to me.
Essentially, these 3 roles are utterly useless to the people who have them. Effectively you have a villager, who if he's night killed a different villager will die instead. Essentially this gives the wolves a free scry on top of their kill.
If a kill attempt on Harry was reported as such, then there could be a use to it - people then know who Harry is and won't lynch him. If PMing was allowed he could form a network. If Ron and Hermione were included, maybe it could have some use, since then they'd be like a 3-person mason group, and Harry would have slightly more value, so it would be good that he could survive a couple of kills.
But as it is, it seems slightly strange that the protagonist of the books, the thorn in Voldemort's side, etc, is a role whose inclusion only helps the wolf team."'But there's still such a lot to be done...'
YES. THERE ALWAYS IS."

Re: Harry Potter: The Battle Against Voldemort (WW) - GAME STARTED
I agree with Supagoof, and therefore have very little to add.
On to the James and Lily Potter roles. I liked them. It reminded me of the Joker role in Batman: Arkham Asylum. Except the wolves still have to find Harry, he's not out in the open, invincible until there's no one left.
