Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Nope, he currently has 8 crewmates, so he needs 2 more to get the "at least ten people" he said he wanted to find.
By the way, I don't think Gold Roger ever had a fleet, he just had the one ship with a very badass crew. Remember his encounter with Shiki from One Piece 0? Shiki's bigass fleet was facing one single, not even very large, ship. How many actual crewmates he had is a different question, there are some scenes where you do see quite a few, but on the other hand, only 4 (Shanks, Buggy, Crocus and Raleigh) have actually been revealed so far.You are a Rose, You are a blade

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Really, there are 8 crewmates if you count only the
humanlivingactively sapient members of the crew. However, the Straw Hat Pirates have 9 members, and 10 if you include Thousand Sunny.
Ex-members like Vivi and Going Merry don't count, I assume.
...
A question, though. If there were going to be two more members of the crew, and they had to be picked from plausible characters we'd seen before, who would you choose?
For me, the choices would be:
Jimbei; We don't have a fishman, the crew'll be meeting up with him at some point, and hopefully by the time they've all finished training/studying/upgrading he'll be about the same level as the stronger crewmembers.
Marguerite or Boa; Let's keep this from being a sausage-fest, shall we (poor Brook)? Boa is in roughly the same power-bracket as Jimbei, and I can't see her being willingly left behind by Luffy. She's also got a lot of room for character development. Marguerite is an interesting character with an appealing design, who (with timeskip training) would also have a rather unique attack style. Thanks to Andraste for the Void avatar.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Considering he is still... you know... around, I'd like Bon Clay to join them. He definitely deserves it and they don't have a... uh... whatever his job is yet.
Otherwise... uhm... not too much I can think of, to be honest. A marine like Smoker would be unfitting I guess. Maybe make Vivi come back, but she would he underleveled. Perona, maybe? Though, it's not like I like her a lot, but I guess she''s unemployed atm.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Also, it looks like Smokers going to set up his own personal crew. So lets see: Smoker, Tashigi, Magellan, Coby, Hellpomo, Fullbody, Django, Hina, (maybe) Garp...Any other guesses?thnx to Starwoof for the fine avatar

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Hm. My only problems with this are that I'm pretty sure he's dead, and he'd overlap a fair bit with Sanji's abilities/attitude (especially after the training).
I like Perona, and I'd welcome her becoming a regular, but I've personally pegged her to return to Gekko Moria when he gets his crew back together and moves back to the New World, as part of the series' theme of dreams being reignited. Whose dreams need reigniting more than Moria's?Thanks to Andraste for the Void avatar.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Moria's not dead. There was a scene with Doflamingo explicitly describing him escaping. Whether that means he actually did escape and has gone off to lick his wounds, or Doflamingo recruited him for whatever his own plans are, is anyone's guess.
Bon Clay... is probably dead. *sniff*
BUT WE DIDN'T SEE IT, SO THERE'S A CHANCE! VIVA BON-CHAN!Thanks to Andraste for the Void avatar.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
He only need one.
1. Luffy
2. Zoro
3. Nami
4. Ussop
5. Sanji
5. Chopper
8. Franky
9. Brook
And 10 if you count the 1000 Sunny (I don't). I'd kind of like Hachan to join.
QFT
Also, looks like Crocodile will be restarting Baroque Works as an actual Pirate Crew. COOL.
I hope this doesn't end like SK. AKA with none.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Ditto. I mean, dying in OP is... you know. also, if Bon was dead he'd foregone Ace which.. dunno. would be kind of weird, at least with the little time in between.
Anyway, I'd guess Ruffy will recruit one or two characters we don't know yet. I'm not sure, but i guess that's how it will turn out since nobody is really that fitting right now. (Though, I guess he'll have a hard time getting rid of Boa)

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
So - is the manga finally resuming this week, or do we actually have another one to wait? I could've sworn it's been four weeks since the last issue...

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Been checking out the spoiler images over at apforums.net, and I must say that I'm equal parts excited and scared about what I've seen. Everybody looks really cool so far, but change is scary! Can't wait for the chapter to come out!

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
Seems at least some of the SH members might have changet quirks, apperently Zorro got a sense of direction now, and Chopper seems to be ½ blind from having sitten inside and read for 2 years.
Well, this is of course just speculations, based on that its actualy Zorro who showed up first of all people.
And that chopper cant see its not Zorro and Sanji he has been following, he has newer had any trouble telling people appart before.Last edited by lord_khaine; 2010-10-01 at 04:10 AM.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
It's been 2 years. Chopper is naive and gullible. He probably believes that they are actually his nakama.

I started laughing and couldn't stop.
Looking forward to that jackass impersonator getting his comeuppance. Hate characters like that.
If the covers are to be believed, Franky has lost his hair! Ah! Sorrow. Thanks to Andraste for the Void avatar.

Re: One Piece -- Discussion
man this chapter was such a tease. I want to know what each crew member learned over the two years. we get mostly cameos
usopp can now shoot man eating plants. So we get an general idea what he gained, he will now shoot plant pellets that will turn into some kind of plant monster. He is also rather buff. now I wonder if he can now actually wield a 5 ton mallet instead of fake it or use the impact dial regularly.
nami's thunderbolt didn't show anything much different than what she could have done with clima tact.
otherwise we just learn that everyone has changed a little in appearance and brooks is a rock legend.
but the crew is almost back together!
