Re: OOTS #727 - The Discussion Thread
Is it just me, or is this book starting to get REALLY good?
Looks like Tarquin gypped Elan's mother on the alimony though.Last edited by Nimrod's Son; 2010-06-01 at 05:10 PM.

Re: OOTS #727 - The Discussion Thread
Now we've been told Tarquin has had 9 wives so far- does it seem likely that Elan & Nale have half-brothers or sisters?

"The part where I don't tell other people, obviously."
I love those moments when Elan makes clear that somewhere in his skull, neurons are actually firing, but it would be dramatically inappropriate for him to do the smart thing.

Re: OOTS #727 - The Discussion Thread
^: at times he seems almost like he's suppressing his power level like in DBZ, only it's his intelligence.
And then other times we realize, no, he really is that dumb. Oh Elan.
I guess it means that Elan is out of family members to appear out of nowhere to advance the plot or be the plot.

Makes me wonder how many talks Tarquin had with Nale about "mysterious circumstancing" Sabine.
And the obvious "after the banquet" thought, obviously.

Re: OOTS #727 - The Discussion Thread
Not really. He gained a bit of competence when he became a Dashing Swordsman, but this was not him being competent. He did exactly what Roy thought he might do, he tripped over the plot. He didn't use his mastery of bardic knowledge or any such things to track down an associate of at least acquaintance of Girard, it was just dumb luck, emphasis on the dumb part.
That being said, my money is on Tarquin having tangled with or even possibly killed Girard. In fact, in the interests of dramatic tension, I will go with killed.

Great comic, Giant! How come an update so often appears right when I really need something to cheer me up? Well, I'm not complaining.

Re: OOTS #727 - The Discussion Thread
Clown-jugglers who juggle tiny clowns? Did anyone else think of Ogers who throw halflings around?
And who else thought of a more Stalin-like festival, with a small mopping-up operation beforehand?
Edit: Also, first page for my first time. It was really weird to see a new comic discussion thread without " 1 2 3 4 5 6" pages.Last edited by Onyavar; 2010-06-01 at 03:41 AM.

Re: OOTS #727 - The Discussion Thread
FIRST PAGE POST!! VICTORY IS MINE!!
But in all seriousness, I'm concerned by Wife #9 dying of Mysterious Circumstances.
As for the punchline, I don't get it. It makes me feel kinda dumb, because I've gotten most of the punchlines and laughed at every strip in this arc except for this one. Was Haley saying that Elan tripped over the plot by being captured and finding his father? Because Roy didn't really let him go to do that... And if this is the plot, why's Haley so spazzed out since they were kinda... y'know... looking for the plot? I'm confused...
I'm just not connecting the dots on this one, even after going back to the desert comics. I feel quite stupid...Last edited by Lycan 01; 2010-06-01 at 03:38 AM.
