    Default The Thousandvoices (deity?)

    Thousandvoices
    (Clamor, The One)
    Greater Deity? True Neutral

Clerics of the Thousandvoices are received with confusion and hostility in many lands. None know what to expect from them, for their words are rejected by all other faiths. They hold that all deities are truly one, and that all faiths are caused by people listening to a single voice out of the thousand. Each voice is perfectly countered with one other voice, leading to a harmony when all are evenly matched. Clerics of the Thousandvoices do not deliberately antagonize other faiths, however, instead seeking to establish balance between voices which have risen in volume over their twins. Unfortunately, this frequently brings them into conflict with other clergy.

    Portfolio: Balance in ALL things.

Domains: Special. Clerics of the Thousandvoices are capable of selecting any two domains which are exact opposites of each other; they must select Law and Chaos, or Good and Evil, or Sun and Darkness, et cetera. They do not receive special domain powers, only domain spells. Domains which do not have exact opposites may not be chosen.

Clerics of The Thousandvoices are always true neutral, but not in the uncaring manner of many others. Instead they are actively seeking balance. Unfortunately for them, they detect as all alignments for the purpose of any and all spells, including smite abilities and alignment-specific weapons, whether the effects are positive or negative. Conversely, they can cast any aligned spell without penalty. They frequently work covertly, as other faiths are usually hostile towards them.

The Thousandvoices is almost universally seen as a heresy, and most clergy expected the cult to die almost as soon as it was born. It was to their great surprise that they found that clerics of the Thousandvoices were able to perform works as if someone is indeed listening to their prayers.

Favored Weapon: Pick from any other deity's favored weapon.

Book one is on the Kindle now. It's a mix of hard science fiction and fantasy. How's that work? Surprisingly well.

So they can center their own Holy Word spell on themselves without harm? But an ally of another Faith (which would be rare, but just for arguement) would harm them if they got caught in the radius?

    Edit:
Okay, I reviewed the language for Holy Word and Blasphemy. The spells specifically state in negative language; creatures who are NOT good or NOT evil are affected. Since the spell checks to see if they ARE good (or evil) and then skips over them on a positive result, they would wind up being immune to both spells.

On the other hand, Unholy Blight, for example, specifically states that it affects neutral and good creatures. This spell would afflict them.

Feel like they should get a domain ability that is always beneficial. A domain ability that's the same regardless of the domains they choose.

    Something like:

Another person's shoes: Once per day reverses one half of a target creatures alignment for a number of rounds equal to half the clerics caster level round up. Outside of combat this provides a +3 circumstance bonus to any diplomacy, bluff or intimidate check, in addition to any story effects that may result.

    How about:

Clerics of the Thousandvoices can change domains. The domains they choose must always be in complete opposition to each other. In order to change domains they must spend at least six hours per day in meditation for three days, taking no actions during that meditation except as is needed for survival.

Heh. This is a pretty cool idea. I don't think I'd have them detect as All Alignments, though. Neutral is probably fine.
It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between.
