Re: OOTS #270 - The Discussion Thread
Great strip!
Mom was wrong, playing with fire can be good!
Belkar seems to have better Int then some folks here were giving him credit for. That was a wonderful and creative use of "at hand" resources.I gave up fighting, and stabbing and bludgeoning and stealing and bar-brawls and wenches . . . and it was the worst 10 rounds of my life - Jerry the Country & Western Bard.

It's just too bad that's merely non magical fire. 1d6 points of damage, and a measly reflex save to put out.

Okay, it's either you definitely should play with matches, or you definitely shouldn't play with matches.

Re: OOTS #270 - The Discussion Thread
Oh that is just freakin awesome!
i love that rougish mentality even if he is a ranger!
seriously why go toe to toe with someone who can kick your butt and 4 of your closest friends' at the same time. I know i would be sniping from the shadows too!!!
and a classic "booby trap" for the angry not thinking fighter!
oo oo oo You make me Happy Giant!
spoilerdiction heh maybe Miko will run out "lay on hands" for herself but perhaps she may have a couple of heal potions and turn the tables on Belkar
Me Loves Thog! Currently on a mission of life and death through dangerous territory against nearly insurmountable odds to secure and bring back SPRINKLES! The fate of humanity may rest on our success...

Whoa.
You know, I'm wondering if Belkar's some kind of idiot savant...Genius at hurting people (physically and mentally), retarted at most other stuff.Saga of Soul: Not your Typical Magical Girl Story.

Re: OOTS #270 - The Discussion Thread
I've been reading the comic since the very beginning, but didn't feel the need to register and post here before tonight. I couldn't stand Miko before tonight. But to see her taunted, humiliated, and hurt evoked a feeling of... pity... like I've never felt before. To be able to evoke such feelings in a comic about stick figures is pure genius. Rich, I bow to your art-fu.

>:(
That evil bitter halfling! has crossed the line! I dunno, I used to hate Miko, but then I read those threads defending her and god damn it! Miko's never done anything wrong! She's in fact been too nice for her own good!
....
Was a good strip though... lol ;)Well it’s about time! I was starting to think that I’d researched that “Xykon’s Moderately Escapable Forcecage” spell for nothing!

1d6 non magical fire? while you're soaked in sake you cant just extinghish the fire that easily... i guess... at least, if i were DMing i'd let it burn for 3 or 4 rounds at least, or raise the DC for extinguishing the fire in 10 ou 15 points...

Re: OOTS #270 - The Discussion Thread
Belkar seems to be making cunning use of the "one ninja" rule of action movies: Many ninjas=easy to defeat, One ninja=unstoppable. Substitute "OOTS adventurer" for "ninja" in this case.
Brilliant strip, by the way.

Re: OOTS #270 - The Discussion Thread
Eeee.
Reading the Jack archives did not put me in the emotional context to prepare for this comic.
Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; Miko's likely got a ridiculous Reflex save, but still: death by burnination? My father watched a guy burn to death on an oil rig about 18 years ago. Sent him into a depression that he never really got over. By extension, I've always had a rather gut-wrenching "that is so wrong" reaction to such a thing, even if it's completely fictional. That firestarter episode of the X-Files, in, like, the second year? Squicked me the No masking profanity. out. I cannot wait for Belkar to die.
Women supposedly mature at a faster rate than men&&If that is true, how come they live so much longer then . . ?
