LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
A big welcome to everyone, to LGBTAitp's sexy seventeenth incarnation.
This is a thread where we Playgrounders, and LGBTAitp in particular, gather to discuss, share our experiences, give general advice and support one another in such matters as arise relating to, well, the world beyond heteronormativity.
Please note that although the title of the thread names only the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Asexual communities, it is intended as an all inclusive environment.
- Everyone is welcome. Let's try to keep from seeming otherwise.
- Keep this topic free of politics and religion. (so, don't violate the board rules, plz)
- It's beyond the scope of this thread to discuss whether LGBT is "Right." (And really, most discussions probably should avoid moralizing too much anyway)
- Please refrain from posting sexually explicit content. (Keep it friendly as well as board safe )
If you would rather be anonymous when asking for advice or sharing your story or views, you can use the address below to send a message to be posted in this thread via proxy.

Keep in mind that content which contain strong language may be filtered (Plus, y'know, the forum-filters), and content that violates the forum rules won't be posted at all.

Spelling error! Seventeeth!
They haven't created a thread for people with spelling OCD so I lurk here.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
Much better. Maybe I should shut up now and let someone who is actually LGBTA speak.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
From the previous thread:
Ah, so "Italian cut" underwear aren't necessarily made in Italy? I should have guessed so.
I meant Lidl, I misremembered the spelling. They have the same name here as in Germany.
Nah, I think it will get uneven.
Oh, it wasn't that bad, it's just not a topic I discuss "freely".
You were talking about masturbation, right? I won't get it out of my head if this remains a mystery...

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
Or last thread, I'd say circa page 36.
Sounds like bad PR, more than an intrinsic factor in all bi-straight relations.
Though, I must say, it is quite the mystery why she'd agree to date you in the first place, knowing that.
Although that particular bit of TMI might have had something to do with the perception/discomfort as well as the bigot tree. :/ Nerve and brain damage are pretty uncomfortable topics, what with there not being any go-to appropriate response to such an existential quandary.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
I think people should talk about masturbation more. Especially female masturbation, and LGBT+ masturbation, and basically masturbation that isn't straight cis guys getting off to exploitative lowest-common-denominator porn, and the jokes that arise thereof. Not that there's anything wrong with being straight, cis, male, and getting off to standard-issue porn, just that it's a very restrictive paradigm, especially for those of us who are never going to fit into the image. And even for the people who do. I mean, I only found out that women "could" masturbate in my very late teens.

...J-Jokes?! *cringes* oy gevalt...
(ION: I have found the interrobang of giantitp smileys.... )
...
I'll agree though, it is quite regrettable that the demographics who have an urgent need to know enough about their bodies and selves to keep themselves safe and happy are exactly those demographics most cut off from the information they need by society and prejudice. But, hey, that's just a side-effect of the greater culture accepting the ubiquity and truth of the sentiment of sex being weird and/or bad, so it's unfortunately not surprising in the least. Merely regrettable.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
It's the socratic problem - the first step of wisdom lies in knowing how little you know. But a person who believes he is fully learned will resist this. How, then, do we teach these people?

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
Well I'm not suggesting talking about explicit detail or even any kind of detail, but more, the socio-political culture. Like the way we don't talk about sex, we talk about sexuality. I think it's relevant, if no one else does, clearly, there won't be a conversation and we can talk about something else.
You know, like in movies, or tv shows, or ads, or what-have-you.
Okay, I'm confused. You are going to suggest that what I said is based on approaching mainstream depictions of masturbation from the wrong direction (?) if I don't enjoy it because I don't look like the women in it? Is that what you mean? I won't bother replying until you clarify so we don't end up in one of those both-missing-the-other circuitous arguscussions. I presume you're dancing around the point because you think I'll take offence, so I'll be as reasonable as possible, and you just spit it out!
Edit: Ahh! The conversation has been retconned!Last edited by KenderWizard; 2011-10-23 at 03:15 PM.

Re: LGBTAitp - Part Seventeen!
I don't think it's so much that people don't want to talk about masturbation, but rather that people don't want to hear about it. Which honestly is fine by me; it's a pretty private process (in my experiences at least...)
As long as people know there's nothing wrong with it (when it's... private), I don't believe much more needs to be said on the topic.Avatar by A Rainy Knight
