★ Minecraft

Minecraft is a game about placing blocks while running from skeletons. Or something like that. The game involves players creating and destroying various types of blocks in a three dimensional environment. The player takes an avatar that can destroy or create blocks, forming fantastic structures, creations and artwork across the various multiplayer servers in multiple game modes.

I don't know about any date changes from 18->19th, but Wikipedia claims that the 19th is for USA/AUS and 21st for the EU. So both of those dates are correct.

Also, started playing HL2. I have to say, Valve is really good at scripting scenes. Walked into a concrete halfpipe and went "OHSH--" as a headcrab zombie popped up out of the water. I emptied two entire clips just to be sure it was dead.

Currently, we're looking at a possible early release date for Portal.

I know, I know, how do EARLY and VALVE go together? Well, kind, mainly-gentlemen, there have been a bunch of images from an easy puzzle sent to various gaming news sites by Gabe Newell myself that has nearly translated to an early release. This does not mean that the ARG is over, however, as the message also details "13 more tests."

Well the Borealis is all but confirmed to appear in some fashion in Portal 2 thanks to the Achievement List appearing.
I think at this point the challenge is not so much in working out any specific details about Portal 2, but more what has happened after Portal 1 and what Portal 2 is going to lead into, say, Episode 3.

Also, man, I got chills reading that Hubert guy's recent twitter updates. That ain't right.

Where do you find that number? I have a lot if not most playgrounders on my friends list, so I would have a more accurate number.

On the main store front page, look to your right. Under "Community Activity" you should see "Friends have been playing" and "Friends have recently bought" you should see "see all friend activity", click it. Now on the new page look to where it says "Last 2 weeks" and "Lifetime". Click on Lifetime.

Once you do that, you can right-click -> Properties to change the name of the entry in your library -- you can pick what shows up to your friends that way. For instance, I renamed 'Starcraft II' to 'Starcraft II Campaign' (and I can easily add another shortcut and name it 'Starcraft II Online') so people can tell whether I'm probably busy in multiplayer or not. :smalltongue:

And sometimes the executable will be named, like, DA2 and you'd want to rename that to be clear.

And sometimes I just put too much thought into these things. :smalltongue:

Preloading is where you get the majority of the files before release so that you don't need to try and download all of them on release day.

Yes. It's a very simple, but very amusing game, and mixing spells to blow orcs up never seems to get old (or, if you're like me, buffing yourself to high heaven and charging Greater Daemons in melee. I never was one for subtle :smalltongue:). I mean, I paid Euro prices for it right when it came out and I still thought it was a steal compared to the fun I got out of it.

Of course, it's not for everyone. It's, after all, a killfest. One that encourages creativity and cooperation, but still a killfest. If you hated, say, Diablo, you probably will find Magicka rather middling.


Ah well. Figured I'd offer, all the same.

Ah. I thought Diablo was okay. At the time though, I was more into RTSs. Another reason is probably because I never had the chance to own Diablo or Diablo II, so I had to play those at my friend's house (the same goes for Warcraft III).

There are so many games I want, but no way to pay for them, heh. I guess I'll put Magicka on the list. In theory there'll be another sale on it in the near future, so I guess I can hold out for a while longer.

I think the last thing we ought to do is fragment our playerbase even more, since it's now just 10-15 of us posting in this thread. We discuss all our Source games in here, so I think we should (respectfully) discuss Portal 2 in here as well, under spoiler tags.

Invisible war was a horrendous piece of tripe that butchered the origional, ripped most of its guts out and was clearly designed with console gaming as its intention despite the origional being on PC with the result being menus that were appauling to navigate by comparison to its predecessor.

BS2 was good, about on par with the origional in gameplay, a fun shooter that didn't deviate from the controls of the first game (improving on the plasmids use) and was ultimately let down in the story department (though in some regards was a step up due to the endings as a single wrong choice didn't result in you being evil MC evilson)

To be fair they didn't have a problem with us. But rather with having a discussion with people who might suddenly talk about just about anything you know what I love, sponges, they dry things up and make them wet. They even have holes and yet hold water, friggen unbelievable.

Anyhow if we do take all Portal 2 discussion to the thread ShortOne made we essentially satisfy their problem. I don't think we should have a Portal 2 Thread II: Best Ending Ever though, ideally once Portal 2 stops being this new and shiny thing we should bring Portal related discussions back to these threads.

I managed to get up to laser rifle level tech, without researching personal armour or medkits. I had 14 soldiers and had a captain, two sergeants and a couple of squaddies.

I had a trooper survive two plasma shots and not bleed out, recovering in 19 days.

I had a fully functioning base and had only encountered sectoids. No terror missions. All flying craft shot down or destroyed.

And then. Floaters and Heavy Plasma happened.

10 men, one HWP w/Cannon. A majority of the men had laser rifles/pistols.

Only the captain survived that sortie.


Is that normal?
